Grime is a genre originating from the UK and has grown recently over the years, becoming more successful and popular. It is not very different from UK garage and also gives us a slight vibe of rap, almost as if it is a mixture of these two genres.
Two examples of artists who create tracks within this genre are;
- Giggs (don't go there ft B.o.B ,
- Skepta (Hold on , amnesia
In the song Dry Your Eyes it is as if the lyrics are being spoken rather than the artist singing it! However, the chorus part is done by him singing. Giggs uses this same effect. For example in one of his tracks called 'Don't Go There' featuring B.O.B. The whole track is rapped with a freestyle effect, the chorus however is done by another artist singing.
These artists usually make songs about everyday life or events that have happened in their personal life. For example; Skepta's song, 'Hold On' is about him not giving up in life even though people are trying to bring him down. Going back to Giggs's track, 'Don't Go There', it is based upon the life of people from where he lives and about the gangs etc.
The outfits worn by these type of artists are quite casual; also depending on what kind of lifestyle they have. They may go for the urban style or even the indies. It is hardly ever glamorous or classy.
